Chapter 8
With his finger wrote on the ground
(John 8:1-11)

    The text of Chapter 8 says that this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. This does not mean a "sex act". for if that were so, then both the man and the woman would be on trial.
  Deuteronomy 22:23-24:
If a damsel that is a virgin be
betrothed unto an husband, and a
man find her in the city, and lie with her;

Then ye shall bring them both out
unto the gate of that city, and ye shall
stone them with stones that they die;
the damsel, because she cried not,
being in the city; and the man,
because he hath humbled his
neighbor's wife: so thou shalt put
away evil from among you.
      This young unmarried woman was found pregnant with child, not taken in the act of sex, but by the fruit of the act of adultery.
     The scribes and Pharisees were not concerned about this woman, they were only using her to tempt Jesus.
Verse 6
This they said, tempting him, that
they might have to acuse him. But
Jesus stooped down, and with his
finger wrote on the ground, as
though he heard them not.
     In a case like this the woman would have been brought to the elders of the gate, approximately 20 or 30 men. The elders would listen to the information given and then submit their verdict to the topelder. He would then wait on God while writing the name of Jehovah on the ground. This act showed that this top elder was centered in God physically as well as mentally.
     Jesus did this very thing and waited on his heavenly Father for the appropriate words to speak.
Verse 7:
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, "he that is without sin among
you, let him first cast a stone at her."
     The acusers were convicted by their own words and Jesus said, "neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."
Proverbs 3:3-6:
Trust in the lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own
understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and he shall direct thy paths.
