Chapter 10
Spittle in the eye
(John 9:1-7)
Verse 6:
When he had thus spoken, he spat on
the ground, and made clay of the
spittle, and he anointed the eyes of
the blind man with the clay
According to Eastern belief, there is healing power in the spittle of a holy man because it symbolizes holy spirit. The one receiving the spittle shows submission and obedience to the will of God.
This healing of a man born blind was prophesied of Jesus Christ. No one had ever been healed that was blind from birth.
The spittle is also used during some Eastern marriages. The bridegroom would make clay from dust and their spittle, he would then anoint the eyes of his bride. This was symbolic that the bridegroom had the power to open the eyes of the bride spiritually.
Ephesians 1:17-18:
That the God of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the Father of glory, may give
unto you the spirit of wisdom and
revelation in the knowledge of Him:

The eyes of your understanding being
enlightened, that ye may know what
is the hope of His calling, and what
the riches of the glory of His
inheritance in the saints,
We as saints had not had spittle placed on our eyes, but God has anointed us with holy spirit and as we believe our spiritual understanding will be enlightened.
 Ephesians 2:19:
And what is the exceeding greatness
of His power to us-ward who
believe, according to the working of
His mighty power.
