Chapter 13
Jews took up stones to stone him
(John 10:31-39)

John 10:31-39:
Then the Jews took up stones again
to stone him.
Jesus was accused of blaspheming God by the very words he spake. His words were true, but to the Jews who didn't understand, they were words of blasphemy. We should ask the question, why stones? Why not a knife? (Lev. 24:16)
The Jewish thinking was that the law which was written on the stone at the time of Moses was actually killing the person. They wanted to kill him with stones, however, God made his Son the chief corner stone.
Matthew 21:42:
Jesus saith unto them, "Did ye never
read in the scriptures, 'The Stone
which the builders rejected, the same
is become the head of the corner: this
is the Lord's doing, and it is
marvelous in our eyes?'
It is interesting to note that at the end of John 10 it is said that John the Baptist did no miracle. John was a mighty prophet who spoke for God, but he did no miracle.
John 10:41-42:
And many resorted unto him (Jesus),
and said, John did no miracle: but
all things that John spoke of this man
were true.
And many believed on him there.
It becomes even more interesting when John the Baptist is about to be beheaded in prison. He sends his disciples to ask Jesus Christ, "Art thou he that should come?" or look we for another?
Look at what Jesus replied to John the Baptist who did no miracles!
 Luke 7:22:
Then Jesus answering said unto them,
"Go your way, and tell John what
things ye have seen and heard; how
that the blind see, the lame walk, the
lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the
dead are raised, to the poor the
gospel is preached."
